Trish had more than a little extra motivation to cross the finish line in the 2016 TCS New York Marathon. Trish was running for her daughter, Rosalie, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia when she was not yet 3 years old in 2014. “We are blessed to have Rosalie with us today as she became incredibly sick from her treatment but she completed that in September,” says Trish.

Trish is the kind of person  always looking for adventure. Having spent the past two years  full time caring for her daughter through her sickness, she thought she would use what spare time she could find to raise funds and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation.

“I went into the challenge thinking I could double the $10k target and before I knew it, the numbers were snowballing ,” she says. Her fundraising more than snowballed, raising a staggering $72,000! “The support behind me was palpable!”

Summing up her experience, Trish says “The streets of New York were incredible – the sights and sounds of the boroughs were amazing; the people of New York were so loud and supportive and encouraging, and the atmosphere was just amazing. If you had told me five years ago I would run a marathon I would have told you you were crazy. The trip to New York was exciting and fun and cathartic and it represents the end of the journey of leukaemia for my daughter.
