At Make-A-Wish NZ, our mission is to grant the wishes of children who are battling critical illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The power of a wish is more than just a fleeting gift. A wish can help make a positive difference to a child’s physical and emotional healing, and help inspire confidence and strength long after the wish has been granted. They help to normalise the child’s daily life, and most importantly, as research proves, a wish can improve a child’s quality of life, giving them a better chance of recovery.
From the moment they start to plan their wish, they have something wonderful to focus on. And the power of a wish lasts and lasts, long after the amazing day when it finally comes true. The experience, and the memories, can help kids find the strength to keep on fighting. For many it’s the boost they need to help them look to the future and feel hopeful again.
A wish is life changing, and it’s this one belief that guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish NZ. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the children we serve. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish child. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible.
