Since 1883, The Salvation Army has fought poverty and social and spiritual distress in New Zealand. As a leading agent of social change, we are focussed on providing help to those who need it the most.

At The Salvation Army we are committed to our mission of caring for people, transforming lives and reforming society. We’re there to help more than 120,000 families and individuals in need each year—with budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes and other support.

Our 68 social service centres spread throughout the country provide crisis care to some of New Zealand’s most materially deprived people during their darkest times, as well as longer-term guidance to help them rebuild their lives. This is supported by our many specialist services including addictions support, education and employment, supportive accommodation, emergency crisis support, reintegration services and much more.
